Winnie (White Woman) Student Information Cards

Student information cards of Winnie, a member of the Sioux Nation, who entered the school on October 6, 1879 and ultimately departed on June 22, 1886.

In school documentation Winnie is also known as White Woman, Wah-she-chu-we, Winnie White, and Winnie Kinney (also spelled Winnie Kinnie). Her married name is Winnie Schweigman (Mrs. Joseph Schweigman).

Note: The first of these cards incorrectly lists Winnie's father as Good Voice. In fact, her father was Pawnee; Good Voice was the father of Julia. Both Winnie and Julia bore the name White Woman (Wah-she-chu-we) when they first arrived from the Rosebud Agency. As a result, each young woman's father was mixed up when these cards were made by school staff more than 20 years after their arrival.
