The file indicates Johnson was an All American quarterback and captain for the Carlisle Football team, finished Dickinson College Preparatory School (Conway Hall) in 1902, attended Dickinson College in Carlisle, Pennsylvania for two years, graduated from the Northwestern Dental School in Chicago, Illinois in 1907. Additionally, Johnson was working as a dentist in Chicago, Illinois in 1908, as a dental surgeon in San Juan, Puerto Rico from 1909 to 1916.
