Levi Jemison Student File

Student file of Levi Jemison, a member of the Tonawanda Seneca Nation, who entered the school on November 8, 1913 and ultimately departed November 23, 1917. The student did not attend the school continuously, but left and reentered. The file contains an application for enrollment, student information cards, financial transactions, medical/physical records, outing records, an outing evaluation, certificates of promotion, correspondence, and a federal financial aid form. According to the information provided, Jemison left from Norfolk, Virginia on a Merchant and Miners Transportation Steamship, which began to sink off the coast of Long Island. Jemison made if off the ship and was in Boston, Massachusetts in March 1918. The file also contains correspondence regarding a land dispute on the Tonawanda Indian Reservation.
