This issue began with the poem, "Live for Something," followed by the continuation of the series begun in Number 8 entitled "Home Difficulties of a Young Indian Girl," about Fanny, a Carlisle alumnus struggling to apply her new-found skills to home life.  The second page featured news items including a report from the Hampton School in Virginia about students donating funds to memorialize Pocahontas with a church window and a visit by former teacher, Miss Hyde. Page three featured more news including reports about progress with the new cistern, the growing Apache babies, improvements to buildings, the moving of the boys' playground  to the east of the stables; attendance to the women's missionary society, including Capt. Pratt; visitors to the school; and work of pupil teachers. Page four continued the "Home Difficulties..." story.
