The first page opened with the poem, "You Conquer Me, Me Conquer You" followed by a letter from Rev. Edward F. Wilson of the Shingwauk Home titled "An Indian School in Canada," which described Wilson’s report to the Indian Department of Canada on his visit to Carlisle, the Lincoln Institute and the Hampton Institute. It continued on the last page. Page two featured “Suppose We Had a Bland Friend," about the importance of strong vs. bland friendships. There were also reports that the Genoa School published a new paper called The Pipe of Peace, a correction to a previous news item from Cheyenne Agency, and news from the Kiowa Agency.

Page three reported the total census of 559 students consisting of 195 girls and 364 boys, news that B.F. Cornman replaced Mr. Miller as school farmer, the Dawes Act passed, and the Mittineague Paper Company of Massachusetts donated 557 pounds of paper to the school. The I.U. Debating Club argued, "Resolved, that immigration from foreign nations should be stopped at once." Page four included the Puzzle Corner, the Question Box that asked “How do you punish at Carlisle?” which gave an explanation of the court martial system, and concluded with "A True Story: The boy was not careful about Little Things," that told of the dangers of carelessness.
