Page one opened with a letter to Carlisle from “An Old Soldier” who had been stationed at the Carlisle Barracks forty years earlier. There were also three other letters to residents of the school from Peter Primaux, Paul C.T., and Arizona Jackson. The rest of the page was one to two sentence long excerpts from letters from students. Page two had some statistics on the increase in Indian School from the 1870s to the 1880s, as well as an article on North American Indian sign language and the generosity of Indians.

Page three talked about the projects student’s completed, Bishop Hare visiting the school, the boy’s school duties. There was also a report on the Pueblo of New Mexico. It mentioned the differences between villages, religions and devotion to education and customs. Page four had a series of sentence long communications between students, as well as a list of Indian Chiefs who visited and got their photos taken.
