Student file of Samuel Saunooke, a member of the Eastern Band of Cherokee, who entered the school on September 17, 1899, and ultimately departed on September 30, 1907. The student did not attend the school continuously, but left and reentered. The file contains newspaper clippings, student information cards, a returned student survey, correspondence, and a report after leaving.
The file indicates that Saunooke played on the football team in 1905, was a locomotive car builder for the Altoona Locomotive Works in 1910, 1911, 1912, living in Altoona, Pennsylvania in 1913, a locomotive car builder for the Altoona Locomotive Works in 1914, farming in Whittier, North Carolina in 1916, working in Knoxville, Tennessee in 1916, and working in a cabinet works in Detroit, Michigan in 1916.
In school documentation Samuel Saunooke's name is also spelled Samuel Saunooka. He is also known as Sam Saunooke, also spelled Sam Sanooke.
