Selection of Personnel Folder of Emma Cutter

Date
July 1, 1911

Emma Cutter served as a teacher at Carlisle from December 1, 1879 until June 1, 1907. She spent another two years as a teacher at the Phoenix Indian School before she transferred to the Office of Indian Affairs in Washington, DC where she worked as clerk until she retired in early October of 1924.

Most of the folder focuses on her employment as a clerk in the Schools Division of the Office of Indian Affairs including efficiency assessments and negotiations of her retirement. There are also papers about efforts to celebrate her retirement including the remarks made by the Commissioner on the last day of her employment.

The PDF linked here is for one page of Cutter's folder: Cutter's service record as of 1911. That document gives some basic biographical information and summarizes the dates of her government service up until that point. If you are interested to looking at the rest of Cutter's folder, please get in touch.
