Plan to Increase Enrollment to 1000 Students for 1890-1891 School Year

Alfred John Standing responds to an Office of Indian Affairs letter regarding a plan to increase enrollment at the Carlisle Indian School from 778 students at present to 1000 at the beginning of the next year, after 75 students return home. Standing provides information on which agencies can send students to Carlisle as well as how students should be recruited.

Standing further argues that it is cheaper to bring students to Carlisle rather than send supplies to agencies for five years. He also advises sending students to Carlisle in parties of 30 rather than having everyone congregate at a single point and notes that summer is the worst time to recruit students.
