Proposal to Increase Number of Students at Carlisle

Date
June 9, 1884

Richard Henry Pratt requests authority to increase the number of pupils at the Carlisle Indian School for the upcoming school year. Pratt notes that he has corresponded with individuals from the Osage, Pueblo, and White Earth Agencies and they have noted they would like to increase the number of students at Carlisle. Pratt indicates that if the 50 students from the Mescalero and Jicarilla Agency come then he would like to see another 100 students come to Carlisle. Pratt ends by noting that this would increase the enrollment at Carlisle to 525 students with 100 out on outing during the winter.
