Mercer Discusses Filling Vacant Teaching Positions

William A. Mercer informs the Office of Indian Affairs that the Carlisle Indian School has opened for the school year with three vacant teaching positions. Mercer reports on the temporary assignments to fill the work, including temporarily employing former student Sarah Williams.  He acknowledges receiving notice of the appointments of John L. Walters and John S. C. Spickerman to fill the other two vacant positions.
