The Documents section features digitized copies of documents relating to the history of the school.  These documents include correspondence, graduation pamphlets, and other forms of ephemera, and have been digitized by Digital Resource Center staff.  Today, these documents are preserved in a number of locations, including the Dickinson College Archives and Special Collections as well as private collections.

Inquiry About the Return Home of John Waterman

Request for Return Home of Old Town Reservation Student

Date: October 8-19, 1907

These materials include correspondence regarding the return of a student from the Old Town Indian Reservation in Maine. Carlisle's superintendent initially denied the request, before the Office of Indian Affairs determined that the school should not focus on educating students who were not under the care of the Office.

These materials includes correspondence and a photo regarding a request to enroll Bertha Cassel, a member of the Flathead Nation, at the Carlisle Indian School. Cassel was living in Puerto Rico at the time of the request.
