The file indicates that Paul worked as night watchman while attending Banks Business College in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, was a student at the Dickinson College Preparatory School (Conway Hall) in Carlisle, Pennsylvania in 1903 and 1904, a student at the Whitworth College Academy in Tacoma, Washington 1905 and 1906, and a student at the Whitworth College from 1906 to until graduating in 1909. After leaving Whitworth, Paul was a cashier at the Fidelity and Deposit Company of Maryland in Portland, Oregon in 1916.
