The fifth issue opens with Roman Nose describing his trip back to Indian Territory and his reunion with his family. While there he expresses his enjoyment of the school and the benefits of education, eventually convincing the chiefs to sends twenty-one Cheyenne children and Ten Arapahoe children with him to Carlisle. The article continues onto page four. The Editorial mentions how many tribes are throwing away their Indian Things, which then White people take because “some white people like to have the things what the Indians wear because they think Indian things are a curiosity to look at.” In the general school news, Capt. Pratt and Miss Mather brought new Sioux child to the school. Along with the continuation of the first page’s article, the last page also had a piece from Anna Raven (Arapahoe) titled “Description of a Trip to Philadelphia” which talked about her trip to Philadelphia and Washington D.C.
