Page one had a poem titled “The Law of Liberty” followed by an article titled “The Republic in a Death Struggle with Ignorance” and comparison between the African and the Indian problem. Page two asked who was responsible for Indians having not fully “Christianized” and become “civil” and an article on the demoralizing old policy and how it has had degrading and injurious results. Page three had a letter from Captain Pratt to President Bicknell, a list of school items, and a section on camp items which included naming the best fishers, cooks, and snake-killers. Page four had comments on the students from their country families, as well as some comments from the students about their lives in the country. There was also a letter from a girl wishing to return to Carlisle as it was a ‘better home’ than living in Indian Country.
