The first page opened with the poem, "Always Growing," followed by a continuation of the "Home Difficulties of a Young Girl" first offered in the Volume 3, Number 6 issue. In this episode, "Fanny" the returned Carlisle protagonist set out to put things right, finally recovering from her despair at first finding her childhood home in such a mess. While her mother and sisters were out, she cleaned the house, much to the chagrin of her family. Page two had a notice from the Man-on-the-Band-Stand reminding Carlisle students to answer the question posed in issue Number 4 about not allowing students to speak their native language. William Paisano and Henry Kendall wrote they were Lieutenant Governor of Laguna Pueblo and a student at Rutgers, respectively. Page three contained short news reports, including a reference to the York Age which was exchanged for the Indian Helper and reported the good conduct of the Carlisle boys during their visit to York, PA. There was also a list of the non-commissioned officers and their ranks.
