Enrollment of Moqui Pueblo Indians

Date
January 11, 1881

U. S. Indian Agent for the Moqui Pueblo Indian Agency, John H. Sullivan, writes to inform the Indian Affairs Commissioner that he has not procured students for Carlisle or Hampton originally because he believed Rev. Sheldon Jackson lacked authority to request students and then because there is not yet sufficient trust among the Pueblo to send their children to be educated at a distance.
