Student file of Sophia Huff, a member of the Oneida Nation, who entered the school on July 8, 1891, and ultimately departed on September 15, 1898. The student did not attend the school continuously, but left and reentered. The file contains student information cards, a report after leaving, and a returned student survey indicating she was living in Seymour, Wisconsin in 1903.
Although the information card indicates that Sophia was "adopted" by the Tomlinson family, her great granddaughter says that she "was never adopted into the family. She was an indentured servant to Abel and Mary Tomlinson. She never was back at Carlisle in 1896-7 for time out. Never. She worked 10 whole years as a servant in New Jersey."
