Comments on Original Documents

Although the information card indicates that Sophia was "adopted" by the Tomlinson family, her great granddaughter says that she "was never adopted into the family. She was an indentured servant to Abel and Mary Tomlinson. She never was back at Carlisle in 1896-7 for time out. Never. She worked 10 whole years as a servant in New Jersey."
