Sarah Smith Student File

Student file of Sarah Smith, a member of the Oneida Nation, who entered the school on June 22, 1888, graduated in 1897, and ultimately departed on September 29, 1898. The student did not attend the school continuously, but left and reentered. The file contains student information cards, returned student surveys, correspondence, and a report after leaving. The file indicates Smith graduated from the Carlisle Commercial College in 1899, was the librarian at the Carlisle Indian School from 1897 to 1901, and keeping her own house in Oneida, Wisconsin in 1907, 1910, and 1913.

In school documentation Sarah Smith's name is also spelled Sara Smith, Sara E. Smith, and Sarah E. Smith. Her married name is Sarah Smith King or Sara Smith King (Mrs. Charles F. King or Mrs. Charles King).
