John Runsclose Student File

Student file of John Runsclose, a member of the Sioux Nation, who entered the school on August 31, 1906. A note in the file says he re-enrolled on September 19, 1909, but not final departure is given. The file contains progress/conduct cards, trade/position record cards, applications for enrollment, news clippings, a report after leaving, a returned student survey, medical/physical records, and letters/correspondence. The file indicates Runsclose was a printer in Presho, South Dakota in 1911, a farmer in Stamford, South Dakota in 1912, and a farmer in Morris, South Dakota in 1914.

In school documentation John Runsclose's name is also spelled John Runs Close. He is also known as John A. Runsclose, John Runs Close to Village, and Niy akekte. He requested to change his name to John Runsell, but the requested does not seem to have been granted.
