James M. Welch Student File

Student file of James M. Welch, a member of the Chippewa Nation, who entered the school on September 11, 1908 and ultimately departed on June 8, 1915. The student did not attend the school continuously, but left and reentered. The file contains student information cards, financial transactions, letters/correspondence, medical/physical records, outing records, a progress/conduct card, outing evaluations, a news clipping, a report after leaving, and an application for enrollment.

The file indicates Welch was working on a farm in Spooner, Wisconsin and was a student at the State Agriculture College (University of Wisconsin) in Madison, Wisconsin in 1915, was a bugler in Co. D 6th Wisconsin Infantry at Camp Douglas, Wisconsin 1917, was a member of the 107 2nd Co. Mounted Military Police at Camp McArthur in Waco, Texas in 1917, and ultimately served in France during World War I.
