Fred Cardin Student File

Fred Cardin Student File

Student file of Fred Cardin, a member of the Quapaw Nation, who entered the school on September 21, 1910, graduated in 1912, and ultimately departed on September 10, 1913. The student did not attend the school continuously, but left and reentered. The file contains former student response postcards, news clippings, letters/correspondence, an outing evaluation, medical/physical records, student information cards, a trade/position record card, financial transactions, a progress/conduct card, and an outing record.

The file contains correspondence related to Fred's enrollment in Dana's Musical Institute, in Warren, Ohio, and the scholarship the Institute provided along with the financial assistance offered by the Carlisle Indian School Independent Trust Fund. The file indicates Cardin was living in Parsons, Kansas and performing in the Indian String Quartet in 1916.

Note: In this file the student is identified as both Fred Cardin and William Cardin. Some of Fred Cardin's documents were originally found in the folder of another student, Agnes Waite, NARA_1327_b140_f5528.
