These images all reflect the Carlisle Indian School students, facilities, and staff. Images available here are drawn from files housed at the U. S. National Archives, from collections of Carlisle Indian School materials housed at various archival repositories, and from a variety of published sources. Group portrait of ten male students wearing costumes. They are the "Soldiers' Chorus," characters in the performance of the play, "The Captain of Plymouth," produced at the school from March 29-March 31, 1909. 

The program for the play lists twelve members of the Soldiers' Chorus, only ten of whom are pictured here. The students listed are: William Zahn, Patrick Verney, Frank Johnson, Robert Davenport, Harry Mileham, Harrison Smith, Charles Driskoll, Jose Porter, Michael Chabitnoy, George Thomas, William Winnie, and William Weeks.

Group portrait of seven male students wearing costumes. They are the "Sailors' Chorus," characters in the performance of the play, "The Captain of Plymouth," produced at the school from March 29-March 31, 1909. 

The program for the play lists ten members of the Sailors' Chorus, only seven of whom are pictured here. The ten listed are: Charles Huber, Clarence Woodbury, Michael Balenti, James Winde (also known as James Hears the Wind), Raymond Hitchcock, Reuben Charles, Oscar Boyd, Ambrose Miguel, Isaac Quinn, and Fritz Hendricks.

According to the program for the performance, these students are Jane Butler, Shela Guthrie Brown, Lucy Charles, Ethel Daniels, Julia Pena, Fannie Charlie, Roxie Snyder, Flora Eaglechief, Etta Hattiwinny, Nora McFarland, Nancy Hasholy, and Rose Pickard.

The message reads: "Dear cousin, will let you know we are all well, hope you are all the same, we was s o glad that Mehargue sent his picture to Mom, we wish you wold [sic] all get your pictures taken & send them to us, that is a fine foto, the Carlisle Fair is next week, Mom & I wanted to go but I guess we can't and miss go to Harrisburg, answer soon, as ever your cousin Marie Keite"
