Frank Cook (Laksarie) Student File

Student file of Frank Cook (Laksarie), a member of the Mohawk Nation, who entered the school on August 10, 1901, and ultimately departed on July 6, 1908. The student did not attend the school continuously, but left and reentered. The file contains student information cards, applications for enrollment, a returned student survey, a photograph, a progress/conduct card, and a report after leaving. The file indicates that Cook was working as a laborer in Hogansburg, New York in 1911 and 1912.

Note: the student in this file is identified as Frank Cook, Frank Couk, and Frank Cooke.

Charles D. Ross Student File

Student file of Charles D. Ross, a member of the Arikara Tribe, who entered the school on November 3, 1901, and departed on March 21, 1905.  The file contains a student information card, two returned student surveys, a former student response postcard, and a report after leaving that he served as a police officer, private, and farmer in North Dakota between 1910 and 1913.

Henry Knocks-Off-Two Student File

Student file of Henry Knocks-Off-Two, a member of the Sioux Nation, who entered the school on February 10, 1903, and departed on June 24, 1908. The file contains a student information card, correspondence related to the Carlisle Indian School Alumni Association, financial transactions, as well as whether Knocks-Off-Two could return to Carlisle as a student, a returned student survey, a news clipping, a report after leaving, a trade/position record card, and a former student response postcard indicating that Knocks-Off-Two was a farmer in St. Francis, South Dakota in 1914.

Note: In this file the student's is identified as Henry Knocks-Off-Two, Henry Knox, and Henry Spotted Eagle.

Dan Robinson Student File

Student file of Dan Robinson, a member of the Ukiah Nation, who entered the school on September 5, 1903 and departed on September 1, 1908. The file contains a trade/position record card, an application for enrollment, and a student information card that list six outings.

Note: In this file the student is identified as Daniel H. Robinson and Dan Robinson as well as a member of the Ukiah and Pomo Nations.

Note: One of Dan Robinson's documents was originally found in the folder of another student; David Henry Robinson, NARA_RG 75_Series 1327_box 16_folder 758.

Note: Robinson apparently completed an application to reenroll (which mentions having been at Carlisle earlier) in 1909, but never came to Carlisle for the reenrollment.

Ephriam Jordan Student File

Student file of Ephriam Jordan, a member of the Oneida Nation in Wisconsin, who entered the school on September 11, 1903 and departed on January 19, 1907. The file contains a student information card, a returned student survey, a change of address request for The Carlisle Arrow publication, and a report after leaving indicating that Jordan was working as a farmer in Seymour, Wisconsin in 1913.

Note: In this file the student is also referred to as Ephraim Jordan.

The file contains student information cards, a report after leaving, a progress card, correspondence, and a report after leaving indicating that, in 1910, Burton was working as a tailor in Kitchikan, Alaska.

Francisco Saracino (To-y-au-ni) Student File

Student file of Francisco Saracino (To-y-au-ni), a member of the Pueblo Nation, who entered the school on October 23, 1904, and departed on August 31, 1909. The file contains a student information card, medical/physical records, correspondence about the possibility of returning to the school, an outing record, a progress/conduct card, and a report after leaving that indicates Saracino was living in Gallup, New Mexico.

Note: In this file the student is identified as Francisco Saracino, Francis Saracino, and Frank Saracino.

Gallus Spotted Eagle Student File

Student file of Gallus Spotted Eagle, a member of the Sioux Nation, who entered the school on August 19, 1905, and ultimately departed on September 23, 1912. The student did not attend the school continuously, but left and reentered. The file contains student information cards, former student response postcards, correspondence, applications for enrollment, a physical record, financial transactions, an outing evaluation, a conduct card, an outing record, and a report after leaving indicating Spotted Eagle was working as a farmer in St. Francis, South Dakota in 1914. 

Note: The student also went by the first name Carlos.

Foster Schanandore Student File

Student file of Foster Schanandore, a member of the Oneida Nation, who entered the school on September 14, 1905 and departed on June 24, 1908. The file contains a student information card, a trade/position card, a news clipping, and a report after leaving indicating that Schanandore was farming in West DePere, Wisconsin in 1910.

A note on the student information card suggests that Schanandore may have been previously enrolled at Carlisle, but dates of previous enrollment are not indicated.

Note: This student is referred to as Foster Schanandore, Foster Skenendore, Foster Schanandoah, and Foster Schenadore.

Wallace Berryman Student File

Student file of Wallace Berryman, a member of the Seminole Nation, who entered the school on August 30, 1906 and died on July 12, 1910. Berryman is buried in the cemetery on the school grounds. The file contains a student information card, a physical record, an application for enrollment, a conduct card, a trade record card, and an outing record. 

Note: In this file the student is referred to as Wallace Berryman and Wallace Bergman.

Stafford Elgin Student File

Student file of Stafford Elgin, a member of the Chippewa Nation, who entered the school on October 17, 1906 and ultimately departed on October 2, 1913. The student did not attend the school continuously, but left and reentered. The file contains student information cards, medical/physical records, a trade/position record record, a progress/conduct card, an outing record, an outing evaluation, financial transactions, and letters/correspondence.

The file indicates Stafford worked at the Christ Church Hospital in Wynnefield, Pennsylania on the outing program in 1909, was living in Algonac, Michigan in 1913, graduated from an Academy in 1916, was a student at the Detroit Business University in 1917, and was living in Algonac, Michigan in 1917.

William Spier (Not ah not sa) Student File

Student file of William Spier (Not ah not sa), a member of the Navajo Nation, who entered the school on October 15, 1908 and departed on May 12, 1911. The file contains an application for enrollment, a student information card, a medical/physical record, returned student surveys, a newspaper clipping, an outing record, a descriptive statement of children from the San Juan Agency, a progress/conduct card, a trade/position record card, a report after leaving, and correspondence that indicate William was an assistant farmer with the Indian Agency at the San Juan Indian School in Ship Rock, New Mexico in 1911 and again in 1914.

Note: William Spier is also known as Willie Spier and William Spear in the file.

The student did not attend the school continuously, but left and reentered. The file contains an application for enrollment, a medical/physical record, an outing evaluation, a progress/conduct card, an outing record, and letters/correspondence. The file indicates Blueye was living in Basom, New York.

Note: in some school documentation the student is known as Ned Blue Eye.

Student file of Eric Tortillo, a member of the Apache Nation, who entered the school on November 26, 1909 and departed on June 8, 1914. The file contains an application for enrollment, trade/position record cards, a student information card, a progress/conduct card, an outing evaluation, medical/physical records, outing records, financial transactions, and letters/correspondence. The file indicates Tortillo was living in Mescalero, New Mexico in 1914.

Beverly DeCora Student File

Student file of Beverly DeCora, a member of the Winnebago Nation, who entered the school on August 10, 1910 and departed on June 16, 1913. The file contains a student information card, a medical/physical record, outing evaluations, a returned student survey, outing records, a progress/conduct card, a financial transaction, and correspondence. The file indicates Decora completed a passenger brakeman course at the Railway Institution and was living in Black River Falls, Wisconsin.

The file indicates that Beaulieu joined the Navy in 1917 and was a member of Co. 1 Unit K stationed at the Naval Training Station in Norfolk, Virginia in 1918.
