George Willard Student File

Student file of George Willard, a member of the Alaskan Nation, who entered the school on April 21, 1898, and departed on February 8, 1905.  The file contains student information cards, a photograph attached to a returned student survey, correspondence, a former student response postcard, and a report after leaving indicating that, from 1913 to 1917, Willard was working as a printer in Syracuse, New York.

In a postcard sent back to the school in 1913 Willard identified himself as a member of the Chinook or Puyallup nation. He wrote: "Upon entering the school was enrolled as an Alaskan which was my mistake by not knowing of my real tribe so please rectify the mistake as my home is Seattle Washington according to my present knowledge."
