Charles W. Kennedy (Tienewngwas) Student File

Student file of Charles W. Kennedy (Tienewngwas), a member of the Onondaga Nation, who entered the school on June 29, 1900 and ultimately departed on April 7, 1910. The student did not attend the school continuously, but left and reentered. The file contains student information cards, a photograph, news clippings, an application for enrollment, a progress/conduct card, a returned student survey, an outing record, financial transactions, a former student response postcard, a report after leaving, trade/position record cards, a medical/physical record, and correspondence. The file indicates Kennedy was the band master and disciplinarian in White Earth, Minnesota in 1910 and 1911 and was a disciplinarian in Hayward, Wisconsin in 1912.

The file indicates Kinninook was fishing salmon and halibut in Saxman, Alaska in 1910 and was a student at the Willamette University Academy in Chemawa, Oregon in 1913.

Alvin Kennedy Student File

Student file of Alvin Kennedy, a member of the Seneca Nation, who entered the school on November 20, 1903, graduated in 1911, and ultimately departed on July 7, 1911. The student did not attend the school continuously, but left and reentered. The file contains newspaper clippings, student information cards, an application for enrollment, a medical/physical record, a former student response postcard, correspondence, a progress/conduct card, a trade/position record card, a report after leaving, an outing record, and a photograph. The file indicates Kennedy began working at Gettysburg Junction in 1908, then enlisted in the Navy in 1911 and worked on the U.S.S. Jenkins as a radiotelegraphy operator in Arlington, Virginia.

Note: Other records indicate Kennedy married former student Mary A. Bailey.

Alexander Knocks-Off-Two Student File

Student file of Alexander Knocks-Off-Two, a member of the Sioux Nation, who entered the school on August 19, 1905, and departed on March 26, 1913. The file contains correspondence about the possibility of Alexander returning to the school, medical/physical records, outing records, outing evaluations, a progress/conduct card, an application for enrollment, and a student information card that lists one outing.

Note: In this file the student is identified as Alexander Knocks-Off-Two, Alex Knox, and Alex Knocks.

The file contains an application for enrollment, a student information card, a medical/physical record, outing evaluations, outing records, a trade/position record card, a progress/conduct card, financial transactions, and letters/correspondence. The file indicates Belin was living in Mescalero, New Mexico in 1914 and 1915.

Note: Students Charles Belin and David Belin were brothers.

The student did not attend the school continuously, but left and reentered. The file contains student information cards, applications for enrollment, financial transactions, an outing record, federal financial aid form, and correspondence. The file indicates White Horn was living in Hominy, Oklahoma in 1916 and 1917.

The file contains a student information card, an outing record, an application for enrollment, an outing evaluation, financial transactions, and letters/correspondence. The file indicates Chief was living in Pine Ridge, South Dakota in 1916.

Note: At the time of scanning at the U. S. National Archives, a document in this student file seemed to relate to a different student, Edward Anderson. That document has now been included with the Edward Anderson file: NARA_RG 75_Series 1327_box 119_folder 4817.

Martin Pulliam Student File

Student file of Martin Pulliam, a member of the Sioux Nation, who entered the school on September 12, 1913, and departed on June 8, 1918. The file contains a student information card, an application for enrollment, outing evaluations, certificates of promotion, correspondence, financial transactions, a list of proposed students at Carlisle, a federal financial aid form, and an outing record. The file indicates that while at the school, Martin took mandolin lessons.

Note: This student is called both Martin Pulliam and Martin Pullium in this file.

Thomas Burns Prairie Student Information Cards

Student information cards of Thomas Burns Prairie, a member of the Sioux Nation, who entered the school on September 12, 1913 and departed on September 7, 1916. A note in the file says he re-enrolled on November 19, 1916. The file indicates Burns Prairie was transferred to the Haskell Indian School upon departing Carlisle.
