Stacy Matlock Student File

Student file of Stacy Matlock, a member of the Pawnee Nation, who entered the school on October 22, 1883, graduated in 1890, and ultimately departed on May 18, 1892. The student did not attend the school continuously, but left and reentered. The file contains student information cards, a returned student survey, a former student response postcard, a trade and position card, a report after leaving, and newspaper clippings indicating that Stacy Matlock, who had played football at the school, was a Pawnee Chief. The file also contains correspondence between Matlock and the school regarding his daughter Cecelia and other Pawnee children at the school.

Note: In this file, the student's name appears both as Stacy Matlack and Stacy Matlock, but family members have indicated that Matlock is the correct spelling.

Note: Matlock married student Ella Manchief, and subsequently another student, Blanche Bill, after Manchief's death. He was also the father of student Cecelia Matlock.

Blanche Bill Student File

Student file of Blanche Bill, a member of the Pawnee Nation, who entered the school on October 24, 1905, and departed on June 26, 1908. The file contains a former student response postcard, a student information card, an application for enrollment, and a report after leaving indicating Bill was a housewife living in Pawnee, Oklahoma in 1910. The file also indicates that she married former student Stacy Matlack before leaving the school.

Note: An annotation in Matlack's file indicates he married Bill after his first wife (Emma Manchief, another former student) died. Bill was the "next in relative line." Therefore Stacy Matlack's daughter, who was registered at the school as Cecelia Matlock, was not Bill's daughter.
