Sampson Burd Student File

Student file of Sampson Burd, a member of the Piegan Nation, who entered the school on December 21, 1907 and ultimately departed on November 1, 1912. The student did not attend the school continuously, but left and reentered. The file contains a medical/physical record, student information cards, a trade/position record card, a newspaper clipping, progress/conduct cards, progress/conduct cards from Dickinson College Preparatory School (Conway Hall), an application for enrollment, and a report after leaving indicating that Burd was farming in Browning, Montana in 1911.

Note: Burd married fellow student Margaret Blackwood, but she died shortly after their marriage. He subsequently married another former student, Margaret Burgess.

Gustave Welch Student File

Student file of Gustave Welch, a member of the Chippewa Nation, who entered the school on September 22, 1908, graduated in 1912, and ultimately departed on August 5, 1915. The student did not attend the school continuously, but left and reentered. The file contains student information cards, news clippings, photographs, an outing record, Conway Hall progress reports, financial transactions, a trade/position record card, an application for enrollment, a progress/conduct card, and letters/correspondence.

The file indicates Welch was the caption of the 1913 Carlisle football team, an assistant football coach at the school in 1915, was attending the Dickinson Law School in 1916 and 1917, and enlisted in the U.S. Army and was stationed at the Officers Reserve Training Camp in the 10th Company at Fort Niagara, New York in 1917 eventually becoming a caption in 1918.

The file contains a student information card, medical/physical records, an application for enrollment, former student response postcards, financial transactions, a progress/conduct card, letters/correspondence, a trade/position record card, outing records, and a report after leaving indicating Marques was working as a machinist in Albany, New York in 1912 and 1914 and a mechanical engineer in Albany, New York in 1915.

Student file of Fred Broker, a member of the Chippewa Nation, who entered the school on December 25, 1909, graduated in 1914, and ultimately departed on November 10, 1916. The student did not attend the school continuously, but left and reentered. The file contains student information cards, an application for enrollment, medical/physical records, a progress/conduct card, an outing record, a report after leaving, trade/position record cards, progress/conduct cards from Dickinson College Preparatory School (Conway Hall), financial transactions, and letters/correspondence. The file indicates Broker worked for the Ford Motor Company in 1915 on the outing program and was living in Ponsford, Minnesota in 1916.
