Johnson Adams Student File

Student file of Johnson Adams, a member of the Chippewa Nation, who entered the school on August 7, 1889, graduated in 1896, and ultimately departed on August 4, 1896. The student did not attend the school continuously, but left and reentered. The file contains student information cards, returned student surveys, former student response surveys, letters/correspondence, and a report after leaving. The file indicates Adams attended the Haskell Institute in Lawrence, Kansas in 1896 and 1897, worked as an agency carpenter in Keshena, Wisconsin in 1909, and as a general mechanic in Keshena, Wisconsin in 1915.

James Holstein Student File

Student file of James Holstein, a member of the Chippewa Nation, who entered the school on September 8, 1911 and ultimately graduated in 1918, departing on June 8, 1918. The student did not attend the school continuously, but left and reentered. The file contains student information cards, applications for enrollment, physical records, an outing record, letters/correspondence, financial transactions, an outing evaluation, a certificate of transfer, and a certificate of promotion. The files indicate that after graduating, Holstein worked at a shipyard in Hog Island, Pennsylvania.

Thomas Montoya Student File

Student file of Thomas Montoya, a member of the Pueblo Nation, who entered the school on December 22, 1911, and departed on April 16, 1917. The file contains student information cards, an application for enrollment, outing evaluations, outing records, financial transactions, a photograph, a federal financial aid form, and correspondence mainly regarding Montoya's service in the navy during World War I.

The file indicates that Montoya enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1917, was a member of Company L stationed at the United States Naval Training Station in Norfolk, Virginia in 1917, stationed at the U.S. Naval Station at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba in 1917 and 1918

The file contains student information cards, applications for enrollment, medical and physical records, an outing record, certificates of promotion, and letters and correspondence regarding his enrollment, health, and finances. The file also includes a written account of the student's life before coming to Carlisle.
