Note: The student is also referred to as E. Lillian Smith, and Eliza L. Smith throughout the file.

Frances Ghangrow Student File

Student file of Frances Ghangrow, a member of the Walla Walla Nation, who entered the school on April 22, 1900, graduated in 1907, and ultimately departed on June 2, 1907. The student did not attend the school continuously, but left and reentered. The file contains student information cards, a returned student survey, a letter, and a newspaper clipping. The files indicate that after graduating Ghangrow married Charles Smith, and was living in Cayuse, Oregon. 

Note: At the time of scanning at the U.S. National Archives, one of the documents found in this student file seemed to related to a different student, Joseph Ghangrow. That document has now been included with the Joseph Ghangrow student file; NARA_RG 75_Series 1327_box 43_folder 2116.

Jacob Bero Student File

Student file of Jacob Bero, a member of the Iroquois Nation, who entered the school on August 10, 1901, and ultimately departed on June 5, 1907.  The student did not attend the school continuously, but left and reentered. The file contains a student information card, correspondence, a returned student survey, an application for enrollment, a former student response postcard, and a report after leaving indicating that Bero was working as a laborer in Hogansburg, New York in 1913.

Note: These documents were found in two folders at the U.S. National Archive: RG 75_Series 1327_box 14_folder 675 and RG 75_Series 1327_box 41_folder 2013.

Note: Students Jacob Bero and Paul Bero were probably brothers.

The file contains a student information card, applications for enrollment, a medical/physical record, trade/position record cards, returned student survey, a progress/conduct card, an outing record, a report after leaving, an outing evaluation, and letters/correspondence. The file indicates that Smith went on a trip to Philadelphia with the school band, was working as an Industrial teacher and disciplinarian at the boarding school in Oneida, Wisconsin in 1914 and 1915.

Note: Information in other records indicates Smith re-enrolled and graduated in 1913.
