Alfred DeGrasse Student File

Student file of Alfred DeGrasse, a member of the Wampanoag Nation, who entered the school on November 7, 1904, graduated in 1911, and ultimately departed on May 5, 1911. The student did not attend the school continuously, but left and reentered. The file contains trade/position record cards, news clippings, returned student surveys, student information cards, medical/physical records, an application for enrollment, correspondence, a report after leaving, an outing record, and progress/conduct cards.

The file indicates he stayed in Carlisle through 1913 and was applying for a job at Baldwin Locomotive Works, but living in New Bedford, Massachusetts as of July 1915. The file also mentions that he was the grandson of Watson F. Hammond, the first Native American to sit in the Massachusetts State Legislature.

Note: In this file the student is referred to as both Alfred DeGrasse and Alfred De Grasse.
