Isaac Seneca Student File

Student file of Isaac Seneca, a member of the Seneca Nation, who entered the school on September 16, 1892 and ultimately graduated in 1900, departing on March 20, 1900. The student did not attend the school continuously, but left and reentered. The file contains student information cards, a returned student survey, news clippings, correspondence and a report after leaving. The file indicates Seneca was an All-American football player at Carlisle, a blacksmith in Darlington, Oklahoma in 1907 and a blacksmith in Chilocco, Oklahoma in 1910.

George W. Bent Student File

Student file of George W. Bent, a member of the Cheyenne Nation, who entered the school on September 8, 1895, and departed on March 4, 1896.  The file contains a student information card, a position card, former student response postcards, a returned student survey, correspondence, newspaper clippings, and a report after leaving indicating that he was living in both South Dakota and Nebraska between 1910 and 1915, working as an Indian school disciplinarian, forest guard, and bankmaster.

Note: At the time of scanning at the U.S. National archives, a document in this student file seemed to relate to a different student, Alva Blanchard Christian. That document has now been included with the Alva Blanchard Christian file: NARA_Series 1327_box 6_folder 234.

Charles W. Kennedy (Tienewngwas) Student File

Student file of Charles W. Kennedy (Tienewngwas), a member of the Onondaga Nation, who entered the school on June 29, 1900 and ultimately departed on April 7, 1910. The student did not attend the school continuously, but left and reentered. The file contains student information cards, a photograph, news clippings, an application for enrollment, a progress/conduct card, a returned student survey, an outing record, financial transactions, a former student response postcard, a report after leaving, trade/position record cards, a medical/physical record, and correspondence. The file indicates Kennedy was the band master and disciplinarian in White Earth, Minnesota in 1910 and 1911 and was a disciplinarian in Hayward, Wisconsin in 1912.

Katie Wolfe Student File

Student file of Katie Wolfe, member of the Cherokee Nation, who entered the school on June 20, 1901 and ultimately departed on May 28, 1911. The student did not attend the school continuously, but left and reentered. The file contains a report after leaving, an outing record, a progress/conduct card, an application for enrollment, outing evaluations, a medical/physical record, student information cards, correspondence, a returned student survey, and a newspaper clipping. The file indicates that Wolfe was a business pupil in Carlisle, Pennsylvania in 1910 and a seamstress at the Cherokee Boarding School in North Carolina and did housework in Arkansas City, Kansas in 1913.

Olive Chisholm Student File

Student file of Olive Chisholm, a member of the Shawnee Nation, who entered the school on September 10, 1902. A note in the final says she re-enrolled on September 10, 1907 but no final departure date is given. The file contains a photograph, news clippings, trade/position record cards, a progress/conduct card, medical/physical records, and an application for enrollment. The news clipping indicates the student returned to her home in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Note: The student in this file is identified as Olive Chisholm and Ollie Chisholm.

Note: Some of Olive Chisholm's documents were originally found in the folder of another student; Grace Wayman, NARA_RG 75_Series 1327_box 51_folder 2519.

The file indicates Moore was working as a laborer in Oneida, Wisconsin in 1910 and was later working at a paper mill in Green Bay, Wisconsin.

Student file of James W. Mumblehead a member of the Cherokee Nation, who entered the school on October 7, 1905 , graduated in 1911, and departed on May 17, 1912. The file indicates that Mumblehead was a band leader in the New Cumberland band, working as a printer during the day and a music teacher in the night in New Cumberland, Pennsylvania in 1912, and working as a printer in Pine Ridge, South Dakota in 1915.

The file indicates Runsclose was a printer in Presho, South Dakota in 1911, a farmer in Stamford, South Dakota in 1912, and a farmer in Morris, South Dakota in 1914.

The file indicates Bald Eagle Bear was attending the Mount Hermon Boys Schoolin Massachusetts in 1915 and the Mercersburg Academy in Mercersburg, Pennsylvania in 1917 and 1918.
