William Corbett Student File

Student file of William Corbett, a member of the Nez Perce Nation, who entered the school on September 24, 1902 and ultimately departed on March 14, 1909. The student did not attend the school continuously, but left and reentered. The file contains student information cards, a returned student survey, an application for enrollment, correspondence, a trade/position record card, a progress/conduct card, a medical/physical record card, a former student response postcard, a news clipping, and a report after leaving.

The file indicates Corbett went to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania with the band in 1908 and was working as a farmer in Kooskia, Idaho in 1910, 1912, and 1913, studying for the ministry in 1914, and was putting out a calendar titled "The Pipe of Peace" in Kooskia, Idaho in 1918.

Note: Corbett married fellow student Elizabeth La France (also known as Elizabeth or Lizzie Day).

Dan Robinson Student File

Student file of Dan Robinson, a member of the Ukiah Nation, who entered the school on September 5, 1903 and departed on September 1, 1908. The file contains a trade/position record card, an application for enrollment, and a student information card that list six outings.

Note: In this file the student is identified as Daniel H. Robinson and Dan Robinson as well as a member of the Ukiah and Pomo Nations.

Note: One of Dan Robinson's documents was originally found in the folder of another student; David Henry Robinson, NARA_RG 75_Series 1327_box 16_folder 758.

Note: Robinson apparently completed an application to reenroll (which mentions having been at Carlisle earlier) in 1909, but never came to Carlisle for the reenrollment.

The file indicates that Beechtree studied carpentry, and went on outing with the Ford Motor Company.

The file indicates Luther was working for a railroad company in Gallup, New Mexico in 1911, running blacksmith and carpenter shop in Casa Blanca, New Mexico in 1912, and working for the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway Co. in Riverbank, California in 1913.

The student did not attend the school continuously, but left and reentered. The file contains student information cards, an application for enrollment, an outing evaluation, financial transactions, an outing record, a returned student survey, and letters/correspondence including a letter indicating Coon applied for automobile factory work in December of 1916.

Note: In this file the student is identified as Louis Coons and Louis Coon throughout the file.

Soggy Youngbird Student File

Student file of Soggy Youngbird, a member of the Cherokee Nation, who entered the school on January 18, 1913 and departed on September 7, 1915. The file contains correspondence, student information cards, a progress/conduct card, an outing evaluation, an outing record, and financial transactions. The file indicates Youngbird was living in Whittier, North Carolina in 1915, attended the Cherokee Indian School in Cherokee, North Carolina in 1915 and was in France on active duty serving in the United States Military during World War I in 1918.

Welch Teesateskee Student File

Student file of Welch Teesateskee, a member of the Cherokee Nation, who entered the school on October 22, 1914, and departed on April 14, 1917. The file contains student information cards, an application for enrollment, a photograph, a medical/physical record, a federal financial aid form, an outing record, financial transactions, a report after leaving, and correspondence regarding Teesateskee's service in World War I. The file indicates he was serving as a naval officer on the U.S.S. Pennsylvania in 1917 and was stationed at the Navy Yard in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1918.

Note: The student is also referred to as Welch Teesateskee, Welch Teesataski, Welch Teesateskie, Welch Teesateske, Welch Tesateskey, Welch Tesatesky, and Welch Teesateska throughout the file.
