Sarah Smith Student File

Student file of Sarah Smith, a member of the Oneida Nation, who entered the school on June 22, 1888, graduated in 1897, and ultimately departed on September 29, 1898. The student did not attend the school continuously, but left and reentered. The file contains student information cards, returned student surveys, letters/correspondence, and a report after leaving. The file indicates Smith graduated from the Carlisle Commercial College in 1899, was the librarian at the Carlisle Indian School from 1897 to 1901, and keeping her own house in Oneida, Wisconsin in 1907, 1910, and 1913.

Note: In this file the student is referred to as Sarah Smith and Sara Smith.

Sarah Ninham Student File

Student file of Sarah Ninham, a member of the Oneida Nation, who entered the school on June 30, 1888 and departed on July 2, 1891. The file contains a returned student survey and reports after leaving indicating that Smith married a Nelson Smith, and lived in both Oneida, Wisconsin and West De Pere, Wisconsin.

Note: Sarah Antone Smith is probably the mother of students Christjohn Antone and Gertrude Antone, who both enrolled in 1910.

Gertrude Antone Student File

Student file of Gertrude Antone, a member of the Oneida Nation, who entered the school on September 10, 1910 and departed on April 4, 1913. The file consists of student information cards, a medical/physical record, an application for enrollment, outing evaluations, a progress/conduct card, an outing record, and letters/correspondence. The file indicates Antone was living in Oneida, Wisconsin in 1914.

Note: Students Gertrude and Christjohn Antone were siblings, and their mother, identified as Sarah A. Smith, was former student Sarah Ninham.

Alvin N. Smith Student Information Card

Student information card of Alvin N. Smith, a member of the Oneida Nation, who entered the school on September 3, 1917 and departed on August 28, 1918. The file indicates Smith transferred to the Tomah Indian School in Tomah, Wisconsin upon the closure of the Carlisle Indian School.
