Rosa Ross Student Information Card

Student information card of Rosa Ross, a member of the Creek Nation, who entered the school on January 22, 1881 and departed on July 3, 1883.

Note: Although she is identified as being from the Cherokee Nation, Ross entered the school with a group of Creek students and is identified elsewhere as Creek. Therefore we believe the identification of her as Cherokee is probably a mistake.

Student information card of George McDaniels, a member of the Cherokee Nation, who entered the school on October 15, 1891 and departed on July 4, 1893. The file indicates McDaniels was living in Sapulpa, Oklahoma in 1913.

George McDaniels Student File

Student file of George McDaniels, a member of the Cherokee Nation, who entered the school on October 15, 1891 and ultimately departed on July 4, 1893. The student did not attend the school continuously, but left and reentered. The file contains student information cards, a trade/position record card, letters/correspondence, a returned student survey, former student response postcards, and a report after leaving.

The file indicates that McDaniels attended the Harrell Institute in Muskogee, Oklahoma and the Cherokee National Male Seminary in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, was a clerk in the Union Agency in Muskogee, Oklahoma in 1911, working in the U.S. Indian Service in Sapulpa, Oklahoma in 1912, and a U.S. District Agent in the Indian Service in Sapulpa, Oklahoma in 1913.

Joseph Saunooke Student File

Student file of Joseph Saunooke, a member of the Cherokee Nation, who entered the school on December 14, 1893, and departed on March 7, 1899.  The file contains a student information card, a returned student survey, a former student response postcard, correspondence, and a report after leaving.  According to the files, Saunooke was the Principal Chief of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians in 1914.

The file contains student information cards,  a letter, a returned student survey, and a report after leaving indicating Beck was working as a housekeeper in Charing, Georgia in 1912.

William Larch Student File

Student file of William Larch, a member of the Cherokee Nation, who entered the school on December 14, 1893, and departed on September 19, 1899.  The file contains a student information card, a returned student survey, a former student response postcard, and a report after leaving that indicates that he was living in Conshohocken, Pennsylvania, between 1910 and 1913, working as a farmer and chauffeur.

Wilson Welch Student File

Student file of Wilson Welch, a member of the Cherokee Nation, who entered the school on December 14, 1893, graduated in 1898, and departed on March 7, 1898. The file contains a student information card, a former student response postcard, and a report after leaving. The file indicates Welch was living in Altapass, North Carolina in 1907 and farming in Cherokee, North Carolina in 1913.

Note: In this file the student is identified as Wilson Welch, Wilson Welsh, and Wilson Ocumma.

The file indicates Owl was an assistant seamstress at the Cherokee School and was a housekeeper in Cherokee, North Carolina from 1907 to 1911.

The file indicates George attended the Drexel Institute in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1899, was a seamstress in the Indian Service for six years, sand was a housewife in Cherokee, North Carolina from 1907 to 1911.

The file indicates Catolst was a housewife in in Wahhiyah, North Carolina in 1910 and 1911 and a farmer in Stonery, North Carolina in 1914.

William Sherrill Student File

Student file of William Sherrill, a member of the Cherokee Nation, who entered the school on December 14, 1893, graduated in 1897, and departed on May 18, 1897. The file contains a student information card, a letter, a returned student survey, and a report after leaving indicating that in 1911 Sherrill had married Mollie Trexler and was stock raising in Wolf Point, Montana. 

Note: A descendent sent in the correction that Sherrill married Mollie Tramper. Mollie Tramper was also the sister of later student Chiltoski Tramper.
