Peter Loran Student Information Cards

Student information cards of Peter Loran (here spelled "Loren" and "Loraine"), a member of the Mohawk Nation, who entered the school on August 26, 1897 and ultimately departed on October 2, 1906. The file indicates Loren was living in Hogansburg, New York in 1913.

Note: This card shows that Peter departed in 1902, but his file shows that he reenrolled himself briefly in 1906 in hopes of being able to play football for Carlisle. His hopes unrealized, he left after just a few days.

Note: Although his name was often spelled Loren or Loraine among documents and newspapers at the school, a relative has indicated that the correct spelling of the name is Loran.

Peter Loran (RohyendenReuh) Student File

Student file of Peter Loran (RohyendenReuh), a member of the Mohawk Nation, who entered the school on August 26, 1897, and ultimately departed on October 2, 1906. The student did not attend the school continuously, but left and reentered. The file contains a student information card, returned student surveys, former student response postcards, a medical/physical record, correspondence related to Loren's election as Chief, an application for enrollment, and reports after leaving indicating that Loren was a farmer in Hogansburg, New York in 1913.

Note: Although his name was often spelled Loren or Loraine among documents and newspapers at the school, a relative has indicated that the correct spelling of the name is Loran.

Abram De Lorimiere (Taiothoraki) Student File

Student file of Abram De Lorimiere (Taiothoraki), a member of the Mohawk Nation, who entered the school on January 14, 1898, and departed on November 22, 1899. The file contains a student information card, a returned student survey, a report after leaving, and a former student response postcard that indicates De Lorimiere was making lacrosse sticks for J. R. Flannery in New York City in 1913.

Note: In this file the student is identified as Abram De Lorimiere and Abraham De Lormier. While Mohawk is listed as his Nation on the student information card, DeLorimiere wrote Iroquois on the former student response postcard.

Philip De Lorimiere (Philip Oua hon Raton) Student File

 Student file of Philip De Lorimiere, a member of the Iroquois Nation, who entered the school on January 14, 1898 and ultimately departed on June 23, 1904. The student did not attend the school continuously, but left and reentered. The file contains student information cards, a returned student survey, a former student response postcard, letters/correspondence, and a report after leaving indicating that De Lorimiere was working as a farmer and lacrosse making in Hogansburg, New York in 1910 and as a fireman in Hogansburg, New York in 1913.

The correspondence in the file is between De Lorimiere and Superintendent Moses Friedman, and provides information on the status of many other former Carlisle students living in Hogansburg, New York.

Note: Philip De Lorimiere is known by the Indian names Philip Oua hon Raton and Naon Koton. De Lorimiere is listed as a member of both the Mohawk and Iroquois Nations.

John Thompson Student File

Student file of John Thompson, a member of the Mohawk Nation, who entered the school on October 12, 1898, and departed on June 30, 1903. The file contains a student information card, former student response postcards, a returned student survey, and a report after leaving that indicates Thompson was working as a farmer in Racket River, New York in 1913.

Note: While enrolled at Carlisle this student was known as John Thompson, but later changed his name to Jonas Thompson.

John White Student File

Student file of John White, a member of the Mohawk Nation, who entered the school on June 29, 1900 and ultimately departed on February 11, 1911. The student did not attend the school continuously, but left and reentered. The file contains student information cards, letters, former student response postcards, a trade/position record card, an application for enrollment, medical/physical records, a progress/conduct card, news clippings, an outing record, a returned student survey, an essay that White wrote as a senior, and a report after leaving. The file indicates that White began working for the Mt. Holly printing Company in 1910, the Corman Printing Co., and then the Herald Office in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. He married Dorothy Middleton in 1914.

Note: Some of John White's documents were found in the folder of another student, also named John White, NARA_RG 75_Series 1327_box 130_folder 5132.

Mary Ann Jackson Student File

Student file of Mary Ann Jackson, a member of the St. Regis Nation, who entered the school on June 29, 1900 and departed on June 24, 1904. The file contains a returned student survey and a report after leaving. The file indicates Jackson was a widow, her husband Frank Jackson having passed, and that she was working in a hotel in Massena, New York in 1910.

A last name on the report after leaving card had been erased and replaced with the name Fisher, which was a mistake by school administrators. The information in the returned student survey does not reflect Mary Ann Fisher's biographical information; in 1910, she was married to Paul Agosa and living in Michigan.

The student did not attend the school continuously, but left and reentered. The file indicates Jacobs worked for A. P. Hunt and Sons on the outing program and was an importer of confectionery in New York City, New York in 1912.
