Margaret Jane Brown Student File

Student file of Margaret Jane Brown, a member of the Alaskan (Tlingit) nation, who entered the school on October 24, 1903, graduated in 1915, and ultimately departed on July 18, 1917. The file includes an application for enrollment, correspondence, a student information card, a progress/conduct card, outing records, outing evaluations, financial transactions, medical/physical records, a federal financial aid form, and a returned student survey. The file indicates that Brown attended the Normal School in West Chester, Pennsylvania, and made inquiries to attend the Hampton Normal School in Hampton, Virginia.

Note: In the file the student is referred to as Margaret Jane Brown and Maggie Jane Brown.

Rose Whipper Student File

Student file of Rose Whipper, a member of the Sioux Nation, who entered the school on October 20, 1906 and ultimately departed on May 11, 1914. The file contains an application for enrollment, student information cards, outing evaluations, a progress/conduct card, outing records, financial transactions, a returned student survey, and correspondence. The file indicates that Whipper attended the YMCA convention in Williamsport, Pennsylvania in 1914, and was a student at Dakota Wesleyan University in Mitchell, South Dakota in 1914. By 1917, Whipper was a seamstress in the Browning School in Browning, Montana.

Theresa M. Lay Student File

Student file of Theresa M. Lay, a member of the Seneca Nation, who entered the school on October 26, 1912 and ultimately departed July 9, 1917. The student did not attend the school continuously, but left and reentered. The file includes student information cards, an application for enrollment, trade/position card, letters/correspondence, financial transactions, a returned student survey, a progress/conduct card, outing evaluations, an outing record, and a former student response postcard. The file indicates that Lay studied at the West Chester State Normal School in West Chester, Pennsylvania from 1915-1916.

Student file of Rena Button, a member of the Seneca Nation, who entered the school on September 30, 1913, graduated in 1917, and ultimately departed on June 8, 1918. The student did not attend the school continuously, but left and reentered. The file contains a student information card, an application for enrollment, an outing record, letters/correspondence, financial transactions, an outing evaluation, a former student response postcard, and a physical record. The files indicate that while at Carlisle, Button studied home economics, and after leaving was living in Mount Holly, New Jersey.
