Leslie James Student File

Student file of Leslie James, a member of the Chippewa Nation, who entered the school on December 4, 1909 and ultimately departed on February 8, 1917. The student did not attend the school continuously, but left and reentered. The file contains a returned student survey, financial transactions, an application for enrollment, medical/physical records, outing records, student information cards, trade/position record cards, a progress/conduct card, a former student response postcard, a federal financial aid form, and correspondence. The file indicates James worked at Neusbaum and Co. in Carlisle, Pennsylvania in 1911 and at the Ford Motor Co. in Detroit, Michigan in 1915 on the outing program and lived in Saganing, Michigan in 1913.

Lyman Madison Student File

Student file of Lyman Madison, a member of the Mashpee Nation, who entered the school on December 29, 1909, graduated in 1917 and ultimately departed on May 6, 1918. The student did not attend the school continuously, but left and reentered. The file contains a student information card, an application for enrollment, correspondence, a returned student survey, a former student response postcard, a conduct card, trade record cards, financial transactions, an outing record, a report after leaving, and certificates of promotion. The files indicate that Madison studied painting while at Carlisle, and worked for the Ford Motor Company in Detroit, Michigan after leaving.

James Carter Student File

Student file of James Carter, a member of the Sac & Fox Nation, who entered the school on October 1, 1913 and departed on October 23, 1914. The file contains a student information card, medical/physical records, an outing record, an application for enrollment, and letters/correspondence. The file indicates Carter was living in Meeker, Oklahoma in 1915.

Note: At the time of scanning at the U.S. National Archives, one document in this student file seemed to relate to a different student, Leslie James. That document has now been included with the Leslie James file: NARA_RG 75_Series 1327_box 113_folder 4688.
