Richard Davis Student File

Student file of Richard Davis, a member of the Cheyenne Nation, who entered the school on October 27, 1879, and ultimately departed on June 30, 1891. The student did not attend the school continuously, but left and reentered. The file contains student information cards, a photograph, a newspaper clipping, and a report after leaving. The file indicates that Davis was working as an interpreter and farmer in Kingfisher, Oklahoma in 1910 and was living in Kingfisher, Oklahoma in 1911.

Note: At the time of scanning at the U.S. National Archives, several documents in this student file seemed to relate to a different student, Robert Davis. Those documents have now been included with the Robert Davis file: NARA_RG75_1327_box 73_ folder 3592.

Note: Davis married fellow student Nellie Aspenall in 1888, while they were both still students.

Minnie Atkins Student File

Student file of Minnie Atkins, a member of the Creek Nation, who entered the school on January 22, 1881, and departed on July 8, 1884. The file contains a student information card, correspondence, a returned student survey, and a report after leaving indicating Minnie was working in the U.S. Army in 1915. 

Note: Minnie Atkins was involved in a court case: United States V. Minnie Atkins et. al in 1922.

Rosetta Pierce (Da-ga-nade-yohse) Student File

Student file of Rosetta Pierce (Da-ga-nade-yohse), a member of the Seneca Nation, who entered the school on November 23, 1903, and ultimately departed on May 18, 1912. The student did not attend the school continuously, but left and reentered. The file contains student information cards, student outing records, a progress/conduct card, an application for enrollment, medical/physical records, newspaper clippings, outing evaluations, and a report after leaving. The file indicates Pierce was married to Thomas Owl at the home of Superintendent Moses Friedman and was living in Birdtown, North Carolina in 1912.

Note: in this file the student is identified as Rosetta Pierce and Rose Pierce.

Anita Pollard Student File

Student file of Anita Pollard, a member of the Nomelaki Nation, who entered the school on September 1, 1908 and departed on April 16, 1914. The file contains applications for enrollment, student information cards, medical/physical records, a photograph, outing evaluations, correspondence, outing records, a progress/conduct card and a report after leaving.

Note: In this file the student is identified as Anita Pollard, Juanita Pollard and Aneta Pollard.

Napoleon Barril Student File

Student file of Napoleon Barril (also spelled Barrel or Barrell), a member of the Chippewa Nation, who entered the school on September 4, 1908 and departed on September 30, 1910. The file contains student information cards, an application for enrollment, and a report after leaving that indicates Barril was a blacksmith in Niobrara, Nebraska in 1910.

Note: Barril married felllow student Rosa Bear.

Victor Kelly Student File

Student file of Victor Kelly (also Victor Murat Kelley), a member of the Choctaw Nation, who enetered the school on September 10, 1908.  No departure information is given.  The file contains a student information card, correspondence, a newspaper clipping, a position card, and a report after leaving indicating that Kelley was living in Durant, Oklahoma, in 1911.

Note: Information in other records show Kelly departed on December 21, 1908. Victor Murat Kelley was also known by the nickname of "Choc" and served as Athletic Director at the Carlisle Indian School.

The file indicates that Lyons was a matron at Leech Lake Indian Agency in Onigum, Minnesota in 1914 and was living in Onigum, Minnesota in 1917.

The file indicates Gilstrap was married to Harry Friedman in 1911 and they were living in Evanston, Illinois in 1912, and was a housewife in Fort Benton, Montana in 1913.

Nelson Simons Student File

Student file of Nelson Simons, a member of the Mashpee Nation, who entered the school on November 12, 1909 and departed on April 7, 1914. The file contains an application for enrollment, a student information card, medical/physical records, a progress/conduct card, an outing record, trade/position record cards, and correspondence. The file indicates that Simons was President of the school Y.M.C.A. and was a Lieutenant of Company B while at the school. Simons was living in Mashpee, Massachusetts in 1914, was elected to the position of Town Clerk and Tax Collector in Mashpee, Massachusetts in 1915, and remained in those positions in 1917.

The file indicates that Tramper was at the Cherokee Indian School in Cherokee, North Carolina in 1914.

The file indicates George was working at a cotton mill in Whittier, North Carolina in 1915, working for the Southern Railroad Company in Whittier, North Carolina in 1916, and living in Cherokee, North Carolina in 1917.
