Chay Valenski Student File

Student file of Chay Valenski, a member of the Navajo Nation, who entered the school on August 23, 1906 and ultimately departed on August 11, 1911. The student did not attend the school continuously, but left and reentered. The file contains student information cards, applications for enrollment, progress/conduct cards, medical/physical records, a returned student survey, correspondence, a news clipping, an outing record, a report after leaving, and a trade/position record card. The file indicates Valenski left the school due to tuberculosis in 1911, worked as an interpreter and general worker in the Good Shepherd Hospital in Fort Defiance, Arizona, was an interpreter and missionary in Indian Wells in 1914, and was studying in Tolchaco, Arizona in 1915.
