Stacy Matlock Student File

Student file of Stacy Matlock, a member of the Pawnee Nation, who entered the school on October 22, 1883, graduated in 1890, and ultimately departed on May 18, 1892. The student did not attend the school continuously, but left and reentered. The file contains student information cards, a returned student survey, a former student response postcard, a trade and position card, a report after leaving, and newspaper clippings indicating that Stacy Matlock, who had played football at the school, was a Pawnee Chief. The file also contains correspondence between Matlock and the school regarding his daughter Cecelia and other Pawnee children at the school. 

Note: In this file, the student's name appears both as Stacy Matlack and Stacy Matlock, but family members have indicated that Matlock is the correct spelling.

Note: Matlock married student Ella Manchief, and subsequently another student, Blanche Bill, after Manchief's death. He was also the father of student Cecelia Matlock.

The file contains a student information card, correspondence related to a request for a photograph, and a report after leaving that indicates Miller was working as a farmer in Macy, Nebraska in 1910.

Ida Mitchell Student File

Student file of Ida Mitchell, a member of the Omaha Nation, who entered the school on September 11, 1897, and ultimately departed on September 14, 1904. The student did not attend the school continuously, but left and re-entered. The file contains student information cards, a report after leaving, and a returned student survey indicating that Ida was married to fellow student Wallace Miller and was living in Walthill, Nebraska, in 1911.

Ida Mitchell Student Information Card

Student information card of Ida Mitchell, a member of the Omaha Nation, who entered the school on September 11, 1897 and departed on September 14, 1904. The file indicates Mitchell was married and living in Walthill, Nebraska in 1913.

Note: Although the card shows that Ida was 19 years old when she entered Carlisle, she was 14 when she first enrolled in 1897.

Susie Whitetree Student Information Card

Student information card of Susie Whitetree, a member of the Seneca Nation, who entered the school on September 20, 1901 and departed on January 27, 1908. The file indicates that Whitetree graduated in 1907, married Wallace Miller, and was living in Boston, Massachusetts in 1914.

Note: While this card notes that Susie Whitetree is a member of the Wyandotte Nation, other records indicate that she is a member of the Seneca Nation.
