Catherine Youngbear Student File

Student file of Catherine Youngbear, a member of the Hidatsa Nation, who entered the school on June 26, 1904, and departed on June 21, 1909. The file contains student information cards, a progress/conduct card, a medical/physical record, returned student surveys, and a report after leaving indicating Youngbear was doing housework in Elbowoods, North Dakota in 1910.

Note: Although this file shows Gros Ventre, a member of the Fort Berthold community has indicated that this individual is actually Hidatsa.

Mabel Logan Student File

Student file of Mabel Logan, a member of the Cayuga Nation, who entered the school on September 9, 1905 and departed on June 20, 1910. The file contains a student information card, application for enrollment, correspondence, medical/physical records, news clippings, an outing record, a progress/conduct card, a report after leaving, and a trade/position record card. The file indicates Logan was a seamstress at a hospital in Versailles, New York in 1910, living in Farnham, New York in 1912, and working at Y. N. Adam Memorial Hospital in Perrysburg, New York in 1914. In 1918, she wrote from Irving, New York looking for work, specifically housework or sewing, that could support her and her baby.

Note: In this file the student is identified as Mabel Logan and Mabel Doxtader.

Student file of Catherine Starr, a member of the Chippewa Nation, who entered the school on September 21, 1912 and ultimately departed on April 6, 1918. The student did not attend the school continuously, but left and reentered. The file contains student information cards and a physical record. 

Note: One of Catherine Starr's documents was originally found in the folder of another student: Corinne Starr, NARA_RG 75_Series 1327_box 96_folder 4227.

Amelia Swallow Student Information Cards

Student information cards of Amelia Swallow, a member of the Sioux Nation, who entered the school on October 10, 1913 and ultimately departed on June 8, 1918. The student did not attend the school continuously, but left and reentered. The file indicates that Swallow transferred to the Flandreau Indian School in Flandreau, South Dakota upon the closure of the Carlisle Indian School.

Margaret Levering Student Information Cards
