This project aims to develop a comprehensive searchable database of Carlisle Indian School resources, and is a work in progress. New content is added on a daily basis. Statistics on the current status of the Resource Center is available in the table at the bottom of this page.
- Student Files: The first priority is to complete scanning and posting the records of individual students housed at the National Archives and Records Administration in Washington, DC in the Records of the Bureau of Indian Affairs.
- Images: Images shared on the site come from a variety of sources including student files, school publications, the Dickinson College Archives and Special Collections, the Cumberland County Historical Society, private collections, and user contributions.
- Publications: Publications shared on the site are those produced by the school. These include promotional materials as well as school papers and magazines that students contributed to such as The Red Man, The Indian Helper, and The Arrow. The digitization and posting of these publications is currently in progress.
- Lists & Rosters: This category includes several bound ledgers created by the school that recorded information such as outing records, arrivals, departures, deaths, and basic student information. The digitization and transcription of these ledgers is currently in progress.
