Tawa Ventewa Student File

The file indicates Ventawa was living in Holtville, Arizona.

Note: In this file the student is referred to as Albert Tawaventewa and Tawa Ventewa.  A user has submitted information indicating that the student was also known by the name Dawavendewa, and was involved in local conflicts in his village which ultimately caused him to go to Carlisle.

The file indicates that Leeds was living in Seama, New Mexico in 1913 and living in Riverbank, California in 1916.

Note: At the time of scanning at the U.S. National Archives, several documents in this student file seemed to relate to a different student, James Thompson. Those documents have now been included with the James Thompson file: NARA_RG 75_Series 1327_box 101_folder 4365.

The file indicates Swamp re-enrolled on November 25, 1916 and transferred to the Haskell Institute in Lawrence, Kansas upon the closure of the Carlisle Indian School.

George Oshkeshequoam Student File

The file indicates that Oshkeshequoam was working in a shipyard as an electrician in Camden, New Jersey in 1918.
