Fred Roundstone Student File

Student file of Fred Roundstone, a member of the Cheyenne Nation, who entered the school on September 9, 1896, and ultimately departed on February 26, 1908. The student did not attend the school continuously, but left and reentered. The file contains student information cards, former student response postcards, a returned student survey, an application for enrollment, and a report after leaving. The file indicates that Roundstone attended the Fort Shaw Indian School, was farming in Busby, Montana in 1910, ranching in Busby, Montana in 1913, and farming in Busby, Montana in 1914.

Roundstone seems to have a two-word Indian name; the first word is "Sweet," but the second is illegible.

Student file of Joseph Mills, a member of the Osage Nation, who entered the school on September 16, 1900, and ultimately departed on July 6, 1907. The student did not attend the school continuously, but left and reentered. The file contains student information cards, a newspaper clipping, a returned student survey, an application for enrollment, a trade/position record card, and a report after leaving. The file indicates that Mills was traveling a theatrical company with the Kennedy Stock Co. and living in Pawhuska, Oklahoma in 1910.

The student did not attend the school continuously, but left and reentered. The file contains an outing record, an outing evaluation, student information cards, medical/physical records, applications for enrollment, a returned student survey, report after leaving, a financial transaction, and letters/correspondence. The file indicates Bero was living in Hogansburg, New York in 1910, 1914, and 1915.

Note: Students Louis Bero and Peter Bero were probably brothers.

Student file of Alex Washington, a member of the Shawnee Nation, who entered the school on January 14, 1914 and departed on June 20, 1917. The file contains student information cards, applications for enrollment, financial transactions, letters, outing evaluations, certificates of promotion, and an outing record. The file indicates that he tried to join the Navy, but was rejected on account of his eyes.

Note: At the time of the scanning at the U.S. National Archives, several documents in this student file seemed to relate to a different student, Eli Washington. Those documents have now been included with the Eli Washington file: NARA_Series1327_box130_foler5151.

Jacob Skenandore Student File
