Mary Belle Cooke Student Information Card [entered 1906]

Student information card of Mary Belle (here Bell) Cooke, a member of the St. Regis Nation, who entered the school on October 30, 1906 and departed on June 19, 1911. The file indicates Cooke was living in Hogansburg, New York in 1913 and 1915.

Records indicate that four individuals named Mary Cook/Cooke attended the Carlisle Indian School. The first Mary Cook (Chippewa) enrolled at Carlisle in 1889, age 13. The second Mary Cook/Cooke (Mohawk), sometimes denoted in school records as “Mary Cook #1”, enrolled in 1901, age 13. The third, Mary Belle Cook/Cooke (St. Regis), enrolled in 1906, age 12. The fourth Mary/Marie Cook/Cooke (Mohawk) enrolled in 1916, age 14.

Student file of Mary Belle Cooke, a member of the St. Regis Nation, who entered the school on October 30, 1906, and departed on June 19, 1911. The file contains a student information card, a returned student survey, former student response postcards, letters, a conduct card, an outing record, and a report after leaving indicating she was a domestic living in Hogansburg, New York in 1915.

Records indicate that four individuals named Mary Cook/Cooke attended the Carlisle Indian School. The first Mary Cook (Chippewa) enrolled at Carlisle in 1889, age 13. The second Mary Cook/Cooke (Mohawk), sometimes denoted in school records as “Mary Cook #1”, enrolled in 1901, age 13. The third, Mary Belle Cook/Cooke (St. Regis), enrolled in 1906, age 12. The fourth Mary/Marie Cook/Cooke (Mohawk) enrolled in 1916, age 14.

Note: in this file the student is identified as Agnes Loran and Agnes Loren in the file.
