Clarence White Thunder (Big Feather) Student File

Student file of Clarence White Thunder (Big Feather), a member of the Sioux Nation, who entered the school on November 14, 1883 and ultimately departed on April 27, 1897. The student did not attend the school continuously, but left and reentered. The file contains student information cards, returned student surveys, a former student response postcard, letters/correspondence, and a report after leaving. The file indicates White Thunder was an assistant farmer at the Rosebud Agency in Rosebud, South Dakota in 1907 and a rancher in Cutmeat, South Dakota from 1911 to 1914.

Note: In this file the student is identified as Clarence White Thunder and Big White Thunder.

The file indicates Means was building houses and was a road overseer in Manderson, South Dakota in 1910.

Asa Daklugie (Da-klu-gie) Student File

Student file of Asa Daklugie, a member of the Apache Nation, who entered the school on December 8, 1886, and departed on November 7, 1895.  The file contains student information cards, a former student response postcard, a returned student survey, correspondence, and a report after leaving indicating that, in 1913, Daklugie was working as a laborer in Mescalero, New Mexico.

Note: Daklugie married former student Ramona Chihuahua.

Jason Betzinez (Bet-zin-ez) Student File

Student file of Jason Betzinez, a member of the Apache Nation, who entered the school on April 30, 1887, and departed on May 5, 1897.  The file contains student information cards, a position card, correspondence, a returned student survey, a newspaper clipping, and a report after leaving indicating that, in 1910, Betzinez was working as a Blacksmith for the Cheyenne Agency in Fort Sill, Oklahoma.

Student file of Henry W. Smith, a member of the Oneida Nation, who entered the school on August 16, 1889, and departed on September 26, 1894. The file contains a student information card, a former student response postcard, a newspaper clipping, a trade/position record, a returned student survey, letters/correspondence, a progress/conduct card, and a report after leaving indicating that Smith was farming in West De Pere, Wisconsin in 1914.

Note: Some of Henry W. Smith's documents were originally found in the folder of another student; Milton Smith, NARA_RG 75_Series 1327_box 23_folder 1058.

Note: At the time of scanning at the U.S. National Archives, several documents in this student file seemed to related to a different student, also named Henry Smith. Those documents have now been included with the Henry Smith file: NARA_RG75_Series 1327_box 153_folder 5990.

The file contains a student information card, a returned student survey, and a report after leaving which indicates that Jonathan was working as a painter in Lewiston, New York in 1911.

Donald McIntosh Student File

Student file of Donald McIntosh, a member of the Apache Nation, who entered the school on November 14, 1892, graduated in 1901, and ultimately departed on March 20, 1901. The student did not attend the school continuously, but left and reentered. The file contains student information cards, a returned student survey, a trade/position record card, and a report after leaving. The file indicates McIntosh was a railroad foreman in San Carlos, Arizona in 1907 and living in San Carlos, Arizona in 1909.

Note: in this file the student is identified as Donald McIntosh and John Donald McIntosh.

The file indicates Sonday was working for the Indian Service at Genoa, Nebraska in 1910 and for the Chicago Pneumatic Tool Company in Cleveland, Ohio in 1917.
