Note: During her time at school, she seemed to be known primarily as Mary Beauvais or Mary Anne Beauvais, and after leaving she uses Marie Beauvais more often.

Note: This student is known as both Florence McLean and Florence McLane.

Student file of Fred Cardin, a member of the Quapaw Nation, who entered the school on September 21, 1910, graduated in 1912, and ultimately departed on September 10, 1913. The student did not attend the school continuously, but left and reentered. The file contains former student response postcards, news clippings, letters/correspondence, an outing evaluation, medical/physical records, student information cards, a trade/position record card, financial transactions, a progress/conduct card, and an outing record.

The file contains correspondence related to Fred's enrollment in Dana's Musical Institute, in Warren, Ohio, and the scholarship the Institute provided along with the financial assistance offered by the Carlisle Indian School Independent Trust Fund. The file indicates Cardin was living in Parsons, Kansas and performing in the Indian String Quartet in 1916.

Note: In this file the student is identified as both Fred Cardin and William Cardin. Some of Fred Cardin's documents were originally found in the folder of another student, Agnes Waite, NARA_1327_b140_f5528.

Pablo Herrera Student File

Student file of Pablo Herrera, a member of the Pueblo Nation, who entered the school on October 15, 1910 and ultimately departed on October 10, 1917. The student did not attend the school continuously, but left and reentered. The file contains a news clipping, student information cards, letters/correspondence, applications for enrollment, outing records, a progress/conduct card, an outing evaluation, medical/physical records, financial transactions, and letters/correspondence. The file indicates Herrera was the disciplinarian at the Greenville Indian School in Greenville California in 1916, worked at the Ford Motor Co. in 1917 on the outing program, and enlisted in the Aviation Section of the United States Army in 1917 and was stationed at Kelly Field in San Antonio, Texas.

Note: A document of Pablo Herrera's was originally found in the folder of another student, Alfred Twoguns, NARA_RG 75_Series 1327_box 126_folder 5030.

John Bigfire Student File

Before enrolling at Carlisle, Bigfire attended schools in Grand Junction, Colorado and Chamberlain, South Dakota between 1899 and 1906.

Note: Students John Bigfire and Watler Bigfire were probably brothers.

The file indicates Bristol was working as a telegraph operator in Homer, Nebraska in 1911, working for the Chicago, Milwaukee & St. Paul Railway Co. in Hudson, South Dakota in 1912, and as a telegraph operator for the Chicago, Burlington, and Quincy Rail Road Co. in Wyoming in 1913.

The file indicates Carpenter was a lumberman and hunter in Cass Lake, Minnesota in 1911 and 1912, a lumberjack in Deer River, Minnesota and Grafton, North Dakota in 1913, and living in Moorhead, Minnesota in 1914.

Note: The student is also sometimes known as Arthur Oliver Carpenter, Oliver A. Carpenter, and Oliver Arthur.

Nellie Boutang Student File

Student file of Nellie Boutang, a member of the Chippewa Nation, who entered the school on October 27, 1910, and departed on September 6, 1911. The file contains a student information card, a physical record, an application for enrollment, correspondence, outing evaluations, a newspaper clipping, a returned student survey, an outing record, a conduct card, and reports after leaving indicating that she was at school in Cass Lake, Minnesota in 1911. 

Note: At the time of scanning at the U.S. National Archives, several documents in this student file seemed to relate to two different students, Adeline Boutang and Aldia Bourassa. Those documents have now been included with their respective files: Adeline Boutang, NARA_RG 75_Series 1327_box 76_folder 3681; and Aldia Bourassa, NARA_RG 75_Series 1327_box 76_folder 3682.

Note: Students Adeline Boutang and Nellie Boutang were probably sisters.
