Victor Kelly Student File

Student file of Victor Kelly (also Victor Murat Kelley), a member of the Choctaw Nation, who enetered the school on September 10, 1908.  No departure information is given.  The file contains a student information card, correspondence, a newspaper clipping, a position card, and a report after leaving indicating that Kelley was living in Durant, Oklahoma, in 1911.

Note: Information in other records show Kelly departed on December 21, 1908. Victor Murat Kelley was also known by the nickname of "Choc" and served as Athletic Director at the Carlisle Indian School.

James M. Welch Student File

The student did not attend the school continuously, but left and reentered. The file indicates Welch was working on a farm in Spooner, Wisconsin and was a student at the State Agriculture College (University of Wisconsin) in Madison, Wisconsin in 1915, was a bugler in Co. D 6th Wisconsin Infantry at Camp Douglas, Wisconsin 1917, was a member of the 107 2nd Co. Mounted Military Police at Camp McArthur in Waco, Texas in 1917, and ultimately served in France during World War I.

Note: Students Clara Bonser and Grace Hilda Bonser were probably sisters.

Note: Shakonaby also goes by the surname Shagonaby, Shakanaby, Shaknaby, and Shakonabey.

The file contains an application for enrollment, a student information card, a medical/physical record, a report after leaving, an outing record, a progress/conduct card, and a news clipping that indicates that Printup was living in Sanborn, New York with his wife and two baby girls in 1914.

Gustave Welch Student File

The student did not attend the school continuously, but left and reentered. The file contains student information cards, news clippings, photographs, an outing record, Conway Hall progress reports, financial transactions, a trade/position record card, an application for enrollment, a progress/conduct card, and letters/correspondence.

The file indicates Welch was the caption of the 1913 Carlisle football team, an assistant football coach at the school in 1915, was attending the Dickinson Law School in 1916 and 1917, and enlisted in the U.S. Army and was stationed at the Officers Reserve Training Camp in the 10th Company at Fort Niagara, New York in 1917 eventually becoming a caption in 1918.

The file indicates Stevens lived in Bay City, Michigan in 1913 after leaving the school, and then moved to the Mt. Pleasant Indian school with her husband in 1914.

The former student response postcard indicated that Frank began working for the Soo Railroad as a brakeman in late 1912.
