Joseph Ezhuna (E-zhu-na) Student Information Cards

Genus L. Baird Student File

Student file of Genus L. Baird, a member of the Oneida Nation, who entered the school on June 21, 1894 and ultimately graduated in 1902, departing on August 31, 1902. The student did not attend the school continuously, but left and reentered. The file contains a returned student survey, student information cards, a news clipping, letters/correspondence, and a trade/position record card.

The file indicates that Baird was a prominent baseball player, worked on the "New Era" in Rosebud, South Dakota, and at the Rosebud Boarding School in Rosebud, South Dakota.  The file also indicates that Baird worked as an assistant printer at the Carlisle Indian School in Carlisle, Pennsylvania from 1902 to 1905, and as a faculty member at the Pipestone Indian Service in Minnesota in 1909, and was living in Chin Lee, Arizona in 1915.

Paul Segui Student File

Student file of Paul Segui, a student from Puerto Rico, who entered the school on October 2, 1900 and departed on December 31, 1904. The file contains a student information card, a report after leaving, letters/correspondence, a former student response postcard, and a returned student survey. According to the information provided, Paul Segui moved to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania after leaving Carlisle where he started a family and worked as a printer in 1911 and 1912. In 1913 he moved his family to San Juan, Puerto Rico where he became a funeral director.
